Sabrina Carpenter taking on Milan: that’s that me espresso

Sabrina Carpenter, one of the hottest pop princesses at the moment, took on the Unipol Forum last night with her Short n’ Sweet tour. The arena was sold out with fans from all over the world coming to attend Sabrina’s pyjama party themed concert.

Taste me!

Opening the concert with Taste, the third single off of Short n’ Sweet, Sabrina Carpenter came in front of her fans in her silver bodysuit with multiple kiss marks. Doing the microphone skit, where she has to “ask” her crew to lower it for her since she is, well, short, she went straight into singing and dancing her heart out. Right after, Sabrina continued with Good Graces, and went into her speech that comes before Slim Pickins

She wasted no time in thanking Rachel Chinouriri, her opener, for entertaining the crowd and raising their energy. In her words, Sabrina Carpenter already knew Italian crowds are loud, but hearing the 15800 people in attendance chant for Rachel, raised her expectations even more.

For the more emotional part of the first act, Sabrina Carpenter leaned into her Emails I Can’t Send album, singing Tornado Warnings and Decode followed by Lie to Girls, bringing everyone in their feelings. She finished off with fan favourite Bed Chem, blessing everyone’s eyes and ears with a sultry performance and dance break.

Sabrina dopo il tramonto

The show then depicted the fall of the night, with Sabrina’s first outfit change, wearing the black bodysuit with a red bow attached to it. For this act the vibes were more mysterious. She played some more songs from her Emails I Can’t Send album, such as the hits Feather and Because I Liked a Boy before heading to the end of the stage for a little chit-chat with the fans and surprise song time.

Sabrina Carpenter recalled her first time in Milan, back in 2017, when she played a significantly smaller venue, Magazzini Generali, with a few hundred fans, as part of her Evolution tour. She remember the exact outfit she was wearing and leaned into the american stereotype by saying that she got so hot while performing since it was a summer day and no AC. Fans surprised Sabrina back by chanting the usual “sei bellissima” back to her, with her even picking up the word and saying “vi amo”

The surprise song was, of course, a cover of ABBA’s Mamma Mia. The crowd was extatic and jumped up and down with Sabrina because my, my, how could they resist her?

Have you ever tried this one?

The final act of Sabrina Carpenter’s show is the most anticipated one since there are a lot of surprises yet to be seen. After coming out in a stunning lilacky-pink two piece set, she proceeded to sing Dumb and Poetic, a beautiful slow song that really showcases her talent. The fans, once again, had a fan action in store for the singer. They held pieces of paper that had “Have you ever tried Italians?” written on them. Sabrina answered that she has never tried Italians, but that she would like to.

Afterwards, she was joined by two of her dancers for another of the tour’s tradition: the arrest. Each night Sabrina picks someone from the crowd to arrest with her fuzzy pink hand cuffs and this time the moment was unprecedented. For the first time, there were two boys she gave the handcuffs to, Christian and Martin. It was a really funny moment for the entire arena, as the two boys were more than ready to be Sabrina’s victims.

Doing the Juno pose, Sabrina leaned into yet another stereotype. She laid down on her side at the of the stage’s catwalk and did the iconic hand gesture. The fans were more than pleased to see that they got such a funny and representative pose.

Sabrina Carpenter finished the show off with Espresso, remembering to bring a homage to Italy, since it’s the country that basically made the song happen. It wasn’t long until the confetti took all over the arena and Sabrina sprinted off the stage after thanking her crew, her dancer and her wonderful fans.

She is off to Zurich tonight to start the countdown towards the end of the European leg of the Short n’ Sweet tour. Isn’t that sweet? I guess so!
