Prior information to the victory

2024 has been a year of political debate, as Donald Trump, who was president from 2017 to 2021, has been declared primary republican candidate going against the former primary democrat candidate, former president Joe Biden, until resigning and giving his place to his vice president Kamala Harris. While at the start the republicans were clearly ahead, when Kamala replaced Biden she seemed to be winning the race until the official results today that gave light to Trump‘s victory.

Candidates

Kamala Harris: Trump‘s opponent and former democrat vice president. Her weaknesses according to polls were the economy, specifically winning costs and migration, reflected on Biden’s government. Another point made on the news is her lack of stability, certainty and spreading a unified and clear message. Although she requests a ceasefire in Gaza, democrats do not think she is handling the war in Gaza properly according to democrat principals. She strongly advocates woman, as she is one herself and has strongly protected the abortion right. On the other hand, men are not her main supporters.

Donald Trump: winning republican candidate and past president from 2017 to 2021, is more conservative. His weaknesses according to interviews is his lack of discipline, as some have pointed out his difficulty while sticking to his core message. He has lost many woman rights after attacking Kamala’s intellectual power because she is a woman, in addition to his anti-abortion stand. His main strengths are his personal appeal and how some have described “charisma” and “leadership”. Also, his objective of “Making America Great Again” by improving the economy appeals to the working class. He promises to decrease energy costs in order to deal with inflation. On the other hand, he has promised to solve the war in Ukraine in 24 hours and expresses doubts on the NATO.

Final information to know

Trump’s win in Wisconsin is what put him over the 270 threshold needed for victory. Moreover, democrats have not won a battleground state up to now, as Trump has flipped Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Georgia, and he fended off the Harris campaign’s attempt to take North Carolina. In recent European media there has been research done to determine European’s favorite candidate which has shown to favor Kamala Harris.
